Jesus said that we'd be hated - but I'm not sure that it was actually following Him and His teachings that led to her^ sacking?
I'm
incomparably more concerned about people ignoring Him (often because of
mistakenly presuming, without exploring the issue, there's not a case
for believing His resurrection to truly have happened) than about being
disliked.
This
brings to mind my ongoing gripe that The Guardian shares articles about
luxury items to buy, celebrity interviews etc from its main FB page,
but thinks its coverage of issues impacting the world's most vulnerable
people should only be shared with its Global Development audience.
We
do have a responsibility to educate ourselves - but IMO media platforms
have responsibility too, instead they're just profiting from people
finding it more comfortable to keep their focus on our Western bubble.
Plenty of Westerners label themselves Christian for social reasons, but aren't actually trying to follow Jesus.
But
either way, there's a fallacious correlation/causation implication in
the above comment. A society could have many Christians, and also many
who hate Jesus' teachings and want to hurt others. There are also many
other factors contributing to social issues.
But Christianity is not solely about social issues - it's about Jesus, who offers eternal life.
Why on Earth is that comment a problem?
because loving imaginary people is odd….
Why do you think He's imaginary? That's just an internet conspiracy theory, not the view of historians https://www.theguardian.com/.../what-is-the-historical...
Jesus existing doesn’t in any way mean he was the son of the worlds creator”” LOL
Josef
smith existed, L Ron Hubbard existed, the pope exists…it doesn’t mean
they’re celestial beings, it just means they’re crooks making
extraordinary claims, and guess what? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence!
Why
are you laughing, when I addressed the comment that was made? You're
bringing up a different point, can you not see the distinction?
There's reasoning/evidence to conclude that Jesus rose from death, verifying His assertions about Himself
- but this is distinct from Nathan's claim. And it's a big topic, I
didn't believe until I'd read books by academics on it, so I'm not going
to be able to convince anyone in a few Facebook comments. Have you
explored the issue to weigh it up for yourself?
Here's an into from a former atheist, who's now an Oxford professor - https://www.bethinking.org/resurrection/the-resurrection
